Oh well, I sucked it up, and I’m fine. I also had a lot of fun. After dealing with a water main break and all of David’s laundry getting rust stained and having to be tossed, spending about 2 hours draining the pipes in his house so we could try to salvage them unsuccessfully , we prepared dinner together (crash hot potatoes and taco salad) which was delicious, exchanged gifts (actually we did this Saturday because he didn’t want to wait any longer) and played with our new toys.

I got them from this site, I used these downloads (Dracula, Frankenstein, Zombie) and the Frankenstein came with the angry mob. I think they are really cute, I love it. So did David.  

I’ve been experimenting with my new camera trying different angles and such. David told me about a website that can do basically the same stuff as photo shop, only for free (and you know how I love free) so soon I’ll be playing with that stuff too.

Yep, that’s right, a KINDLE!

We decided not to buy each other anything so David gave me his old Kindle (he just bought himself a new one and wanted to give his old one to someone he knew who’d appreciate it. And that someone was me!)

He filled it with all the Harry Potter’s, all the Lord of the rings and Twilight, the Belgariad series I’ve talked to much about, and some Stephen Kings he liked and wants me to read too. I was mad at first, because I only made him those stupid paper things, and I was upset he gave me something so expensive, but when I thought about it I didn’t feel that bad anymore. He gave it to me to make me happy, which I am (I have already downloaded 19 books from Amazon, 18 of which were free); so there is nothing about price, especially when he is giving me his old one. He did like his paper crafts too, really liked them, and I spent quite a bit of time on them, so all is good.

This was the best Valentines Day I have ever had, probably because I shared it with someone other than my mom; but it was great nonetheless. We finished the evening with an episode of WIll and Grace and an episode of Top Gear. 

Hopefully next year I get to share it with David again.  (Fingers crossed)

 I really do like that guy.

I started reading The Lovely Bones last night. I’m really excited. So far I’m very interested, and the story is told in a way that makes it seem so real, like you’re her. I like that. I like to be the character (even if it is a horror story).

Great news! For the first time in my life I won something! Yay! And it’s a BOOK! Double yay!

The ladies over at Edifying and Edgy held a contest (see here) and I won it! (see here)

My “project of love” as it will hence forth be known is underway. David and I decided not to do gifts for valentine’s day, which is awesome since I never know what to give a guy on V-Day anyways (except maybe a little of my V… tee he, oops this is a G-Rated site) and I have no dollars to spare in the name of love. So, I decided to make him some fun little paper crafts, and since he is apparently allergic to my blog (and he only really knows about this one) I’m posting my intentions and completions.

I finished this little guy last night. He is Dracula, or my “robot-doing” version of such. I made him! He is a paper craft I got from this site (this is the download I printed), I now realize I glued his hands on wrong… oops. Whatever, mine is just as cute.

(I obviously don’t want you to continue reading this since I keep sending you on multiple adventures. I apologise.)

I will also be making him a Zombie and Frankenstein, all from the same site, because nothing says “I love you” like the undead.

I should make that into a shirt.

What do you think? I like that paint on my computer makes it so easy to design a t-shirt. This took me all of about a minute (I had to google a good blank t-shirt image before I could start) How fun is that? I’ll be posting more in the future I think.

This is David and Denise, in one of the few photos he let me take of him (terribly un-photogenic… it’s really very sad). Its from a Motorola droid, so obviously the quality is bogus, but I take what I can get. And in all honesty, I think his little smile is cute enough it doesn’t really matter.

You can never have too many books, I firmly believe this.

I had a gift card for Barnes and Nobel that I had a $15.80 balance left on I that I got for Christmas (which means that plus all of my Christmas books, I’ve already bought over $30 more of books) and today I went to spend the rest of it.

well…

I ended up spending another $26 on top of my $15 gift card. (so, in the one and a half months since Christmas I have spent $75 on books) Did I tell you I had already received 6 Books for Christmas?

I’m pathetic.

This, plus my lack of control when I go into a liquor store (and the fact that liquor stores are way over priced) is why I have no money. I spent $65 on drinks last friday night.

This is ridiculous.

Now, I can say that the alcohol was partly for David, and that I only have had 2 Strongbows since then (both Friday night at a party) so I do have an addiction, it’s just to spending money, to the stores, to the books, and to the fact that I love reading. I get so hooked just reading the back cover I can’t stop buying. Online stores make is to easy for me to spend my life away…

Suicide Notes              By Michael Thomas Ford

Synopsis

Another book about suicide (see 13 reasons why) and this one is a little closer to home. I won’t tell you exactly why, but a friend of mine was there, in that seat, seeing that crazies (suicidal people) may actually be more normal than we realize. And maybe, just maybe, there would be a lot less attempts if we took the time to listen.

Because that’s all some people need, to be heard. To have someone else who get’s it too to just listen…

Ahh, youth. So glad I’m outta there (well, kind of). I look forward to these plus 3 more I ordered coming soon. And I am also looking forward to sharing with you my take on the novels.

So here I am, getting ready to be thankful.

I am thankful for my mother, who is excited to spend time with me, lets me use her kitchen (because my sister has taken free reign of ours), and feeds me at least a few times a week. I don’t have a lot of money right now, and the fact that she makes me food is really a life saver. Thanks Mom.

I am thankful for my job. I may complain about it, but it is steady, it isn’t going anywhere, and I have time during the day to do my blogging and thinking and I take home  a pay-check every 2 weeks. Which is also a life saver.

I’m thankful for my great friend, Bobby. We’ve been through so much together, so much in fact that we have been there through some of the toughest times in each others lives. When I need someone I know I can call on him, and the same goes for him. he can always call on me.

I’m thankful for my love of reading. not everyone loves it like I do, and I feel like I have learned so much about life from the books I’ve read, that I’m a lot further along than I’d be is I wasn’t so interested.

This last thing is what I’m most thankful for in the world.

You help me see the sun when all I can see are clouds. You show me that I’m worth loving. You’ve given me an amazing gift: a person like you to love back. You make me laugh, and I need that. You show me new things, and keep me curious about life. You encourage me to try, because you believe in me like no one else does. You are there to hold my hand when I can’t do anything but cry, and when I’m done crying, you’re there to tell me that it’s never always going to be easy, just like it’s never going to always be hard. You make me confident in what I have with you. You want to be with me. You want to hold me. You’re not afraid of letting me know how special I am. And with you, because of you, I feel special again. I love this hair, absolutely love it. I’m probably going home tonight to try it, although I don’t know if my curling iron is small enough. I hope it is, because she is so cute and I want to be her. I mean have hair like her…

Last night I once again pretended to be a real grownup and made a delicious meal for my mother and myself. I made Sweet Potato Pot-Pie, but instead of puff pastry I used unrolled croissant rolls and instead of 1 tablespoon adobo sauce from a can of chipotle chilies I used a mixture of ginger, cinnamon, paprika, garlic powder, and basil. And instead of whole milk I used 2%. It was so good. I’m rather proud of myself, and I got to use my new 10oz custard cups. Now that I’m remembering I forgot the egg white (ooops…).

The recipe was about double what I needed, I don’t know how all of that was supposed to fit into the dishes, but it didn’t really specify what size bowls to use, and one was plenty for me to eat by myself. So I have left overs and can make the rest tonight if I want to. I don’t know what I’ll be doing.
